Most programs will give the direction to Qibla using the geographic north pole. This information by itself will not give accurate compass directions. If you use a compass to find the direction to Qibla, the magnetic needle points to the Earth's magnetic north pole. The angle that the magnetic needle points away from the geographic direction is called declination, and it varies for each different location. For accurate compass readings, it is necessary to adjust your compass for the proper declination to eliminate this error.
